How To Cold-Brew

Here's a step-by-step guide on brewing cold brew coffee:

1. Gather your equipment:

- Coarsely ground Gregular Guys coffee

- Cold water

- Container or jar with a lid

- Filter (such as a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth)

- Optional: additional flavorings (e.g., cinnamon, vanilla extract)

2. Measure coffee and water:

- Use a ratio of around 1:4 or 1:5 coffee-to-water, depending on your desired strength.

- For example, for 1 cup of coarsely ground coffee, you'll need 4 to 5 cups of cold water.

3. Combine coffee and water:

- Place the coarsely ground coffee in the container.

- Pour the cold water over the coffee, ensuring that all the grounds are fully saturated.

4. Stir and add flavorings (if desired):

- Stir the mixture gently to ensure even distribution of the coffee grounds.

- If you'd like to add flavorings such as cinnamon or vanilla extract, do so at this stage.

5. Steep the coffee:

- Seal the container or jar with a lid, and place it in the refrigerator.

- Allow the coffee to steep for at least 12 to 24 hours, depending on your taste preference.

- Longer steeping times result in a stronger and more concentrated cold brew.

6. Strain the coffee concentrate:

- After the desired steeping time, strain the cold brew to remove the coffee grounds.

- Place a filter, such as a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth, over another container or jar.

- Pour the cold brew through the filter to separate the liquid from the grounds.

7. Dilute and serve:

- To serve, dilute the cold brew concentrate with water or milk, depending on your preference.

- Start with a 1:1 ratio of cold brew concentrate to water or milk, and adjust to taste.

- Add ice if desired, and enjoy your refreshing cup of cold brew coffee.

8. Storage:

- Store any leftover cold brew in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

- Cold brew can be stored for several days, allowing you to enjoy it over time.

Remember, cold brew is typically less acidic and has a smoother flavor profile compared to hot brewed coffee. Adjust the steeping time and coffee-to-water ratio based on your personal taste preferences. Experiment with different coffee beans and flavors to create your perfect cold brew coffee.
